The electrical safety test is a crucial part of our offering, and an essential task within any commercial space. Read on to discover more about what’s involved in electrical safety testing, why it’s important, and how we can help you work safely within your commercial setting.

Introducing the electrical safety test

With electric shocks presenting very real dangers across commercial environments of all shapes and sizes, electrical safety testing is vital. Electrical safety testing ensures the safety of fixed wiring and equipment, eliminating the risks that could cause significant harm or even death to all those who use your commercial building.

During an electrical safety test, equipment and installations are assessed with our engineers conducting a number of inspections and tests to ensure their quality, suitability and safety. We conduct thorough inspections meaning no stone is left unturned in your quest for electrical safety.

During an electrical safety test, your electrical system - including your wall sockets, light fittings, light switches, and the miles and miles of cabling that serves them - will be inspected. After testing, our experts will write up a comprehensive report on their findings and provide honest, jargon-free recommendations for any remedial work that should be completed to bring your building up to standard.

The importance of electrical safety testing

With electrical safety testing required by law in both commercial properties and privately rented accommodation, every commercial building owner and landlord should be well versed on its importance.

Fixed wire testing is a legal requirement under BS 7671:2008 (2011) regulation (previously the 16th Edition Wiring Regulations) and as a result periodic commercial electrical safety testing should be completed.

In accordance with the latest legislation, any commercial building that is open to the public must undergo a fixed wire electrical safety test at least every five years.
