As specialists in commercial electrical testing, we have more than 25 years of experience providing electrical and fire safety services to businesses serving all industry sectors.
Our work with petrol and commercial vehicle refuelling stations is renowned, with our highly qualified contractors delivering a full range of forecourt testing and inspection works. But what’s involved in our petrol forecourt testing and inspection services? In this blog post, we answer that all-important question.
Both petrol forecourts and commercial vehicle refuelling stations use electrical installations to do what they do best. Our work with both ensures the highest standards of electrical and fire safety are upheld, despite the hazardous nature of the setting.
Petrol stations in particular are subject to several specialist regulations, with the electrical wiring on forecourts needed to be tested, inspected and maintained with the help of a professional.
Under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EWR) and the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR), the station operator must have all electrical installations annually inspected and tested. They must also select a competent electrical contractor to complete the works.
By law, their chosen electrical contractor must have strong knowledge of the electrical section of the Blue Guide and BS.7671: 2008 (IEE Wiring Regulations). They must also have experience installing, testing and maintaining electrical wiring and equipment for use in a hazardous area.
As we mentioned previously, we supply a full range of petrol forecourt testing and inspection services, all of which are undertaken by experienced and qualified electrical contractors in line with the latest regulations.
Onsite, our experts can provide petrol filling inspection reports, earthing inspection, RCD recording and testing, hazardous area equipment inspection, and hazardous cable testing. We can also assist with in-store installations, lighting systems, fire alarms and emergency lighting, and forecourt signage.
Commissioning your own petrol forecourt test and inspection couldn’t be easier, simply contact us to enquire about our specialist services.
Whether you need a single piece of electrical equipment testing or a full inspection of the retail forecourt, we can assist. Our electrical contractors have experience working in hazardous environments and keep up to date with the latest regulations, so you don’t have to.
